Free Parks Tennis – volunteer recruitment

Tennis Scotland is looking for keen volunteers to help activate Free access tennis sessions on the public courts in Dundee.

What is Free Parks Tennis? – Free Parks tennis is essentially the tennis equivalent of Parkrun, anyone can come along at the same time on a Saturday or Sunday and just have fun on the tennis courts.

What are we trying to do? – We want to try and create a network of Free Parks Tennis sessions across all 8 public tennis parks sites in Dundee. If we can do this we hope we can attract people to the sport that we have never seen play before that clubs often struggle to attract.

What is the role of an Activator? – The role of the activator is to facilitate activity, be the ‘social glue’ of Free Parks Tennis. Essentially be there to smile, hand out rackets, suggest some activities to try and answer any questions players may have. It is important to understand activators are not coaches, you can see activator training as almost a pre coaching course.

We have practical training taking place on the 22nd and 23rd March and this will be complimented by online resources and mentoring by a local representative.
