Brief Description of Duties:

You will have lived experience of care proceedings and/or experience of supporting parents whose children have been removed from their care.  This can be personal experience, or experience gained through a close relative, friend or as a carer.

The mentor will provide tailored, trauma informed 1:1 input for birth mothers who do not have their children in their care, to support personal development and create pathways to engaging with relevant support services as well as meaningful social and community-based activities. The worker will meet with the women they are working with on an outreach basis weekly with flexibility for additional weekly contact should there be a requirement to provide this.

This 1:1 trauma informed input is a key part in supporting these women to overcome barriers; it creates a trusting relationship between the worker and women where support and encouragement can be provided to empower them to take charge of their lives, manage appointments, access and maintain engagement with relevant support and services. The mentor will liaise with partner agencies involved (with consent) to ensure seamless care and support can be provided so the women’s needs are met
