Substance Use Engagement

We're here to support and promote recovery in Dundee. We want our work to empower both people affected by substance use and the services that support them. We believe in the value of using living and lived experience voices to inform and change recovery services in Dundee. We want to encourage connection and communication between recovery services in Dundee so people can be confident of having the best experience possible when reaching out for support. Recovery affects everyone and should be a visible and positive force in every community, including here in Dundee.

How we can support you

Our team chairs the Meeting of Recovery Services, which welcomes anyone who works with people who are affected by substance use or anyone who has a vested interest in recovery. The meeting serves as a forum for service updates and information sharing, as well as a chance to network with other people working in the sector.

Strategically, the Substance Use Team have supported people with lived/living experience to take part in providing feedback and shaping new services- for example, conducting interviews around people’s experiences of the MAT Standards.

We also offer practical support to Recovery Services, whether that means supporting a drop-in/the development of a new project, or making introductions and connections between workers and services.

We coordinate planning for Recovery Month across Dundee in September of every year and handle the promotion of the events going on and have worked in partnership with others to provide transport to events like the Recovery Walk and Recovery Connects Festival.

All these strands of work rely on strong relationships with others and being an active part of the Recovery Community in Dundee, so our team try to be out in the community and visiting different places as much as possible. There is so much amazing work being done in Dundee, and we are eager to support it in any way that we can.
