DWP announces “Right to Try” for disabled benefit claimants.

New legislation announced by the Department for Work & Pensions on Thursday 9 April will remove barriers to work (and volunteering) for disabled benefit claimants, giving them the ‘Right to Try’ volunteering without the immediate fear of losing their benefits. Shaped by extensive engagement with disabled people and representative organisations, the changes include a guarantee that volunteering will not trigger a benefit reassessment, helping people move closer to, or into work.
