The National Emergency Briefing event took place in Westminster in November last year. It is a series of nine lectures introduced by Chris Packham, aimed mainly at MPs, other politicians and policy makers by scientific experts on the urgency of the climate and nature crisis. Each one explores a different aspect of how the changing climate will impact people’s lives including food supplies, national security, biodiversity and the economy. The purpose is to push the government to get this information out to the public as a priority so that people understand the real risks we face and help mobilise action before it’s too late.
A fifty-minute film has been made to summarise the lectures, interspersed with reaction from the public and some famous faces. Screenings are happening all over the UK (and in other countries) and there is to be one at the DCA on Saturday 8th August at 4.30pm, followed by a discussion with Dundee West MSP Heather Anderson.
