Social Care Academy 2026 – applications open

Applications are now open for Social Care Academy 2026, a training opportunity delivered in partnership by Dundee Health & Social Care Partnership, D&A College and Discover Work. Please read the following information carefully before completing the application form.
What to expect:
  • An entry-level training course for people with limited or no qualifications and experience of working in the social care industry
  • Classroom work and qualifications delivered by D&A College
  • Employability training delivered by Discover Work
  • 2 weeks of work placement with a social care provider in Dundee
  • Modules and accredited training including; emergency first aid, moving and manual handling passport, food hygiene certificate (REHIS)
  • Registration for Disclosure Scotland
  • Help to apply for any available jobs in social care (or anything else you like) on completion of the course
  • Key worker support to help you get ready for starting work and for up to a year into your employment
Important dates & locations:
  • Information Day*: 11am, Tuesday 20th October 2026
  • Placements: 16th to 26th November 2026 (Monday to Thursday)
  • Full course dates: Monday 2nd November to Friday 4th December 2026
Requirements:
  • Live in Dundee or close by
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Be unemployed or underemployed (not enough hours, low pay, etc.)
  • Be able to commit to all days of the course
  • Be interested in working in the social care industry
*Applicants must attend the Information Day to be considered for the course. We will confirm your invitation via email.
