The 2-day in person Violence Against Women Overview Training will take place on the 10th and 12th of March. As we are seeing increasing polarisation of this topic in the media and its infiltration into society, we are also recognising the damaging direct and indirect impacts on men and women in different ways amongst service users, colleagues and those in our personal networks. Whilst it’s a topic that affects everyone, the training is on violence against women. We would like to invite everyone to join our training to discuss the different forms of violence against women and how everyone can play a role in reducing it.
The Violence Against Women Overview Training provides a two day in person session on:
- understanding gender inequality,
- different forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) e.g. street harassment, sexual violence (rape and sexual assault), human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, domestic abuse and ‘honour’-based abuse
- local and national support organisations for VAWG,
- increasing confidence and basic skills for dealing with disclosure,
- understanding the barriers women face to accessing services,
- provide information on some tools and approaches which can be used to support women impacted by violence against women and girls, and
- understanding of good practice principles when dealing with perpetrators.
The training is open to anyone in the Dundee workforce. Sessions will be capped at 15. Each session is split across two days, you must attend both Session 1 and Session 2 and you cannot attend different days across different weeks. All sessions will be held in person in Dundee.
