Lifting the Curtain: Consent and Access to Justice for Women in the ‘Sex Industry’
Wed, 25 March, 11.00-12.30, via Teams

Last year, CSE Aware launched a three-part webinar series on consent in the sex industry, introducing a consent framework shaped by women, sex buyers, and third parties. The series explored consent as a process before, during, and after a sexual encounter, identifying points where it may be compromised.
In the final webinar, the focus will be on the harms women may face in the after stage, such as image misuse and unwanted contact, emphasising the need for a long-term approach to consent. Additionally, it will address challenges and opportunities women encounter on their pathways to justice.
The women-centered, social model of the CSE Aware framework supports practitioners in understanding the complexities of the sex trade, encouraging them to recognise risks beyond physical violence, such as financial and psychological harms. Facilitating relevant conversations can help women make informed decisions, better understand their rights, and challenge power inequalities.
