Alternatives Vacancy – Outreach Counsellor

Outreach Counsellor (8 hours per week)

Closing date: 12:00PM, 08/12/23

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and committed individual who is willing to work reflectively and collaboratively with other agencies to deliver a counselling service for groups of people in our community who no longer have custody of their children.

The project will be delivered through a partnership with the TCA (Tayside Counsel on Alcohol) BIRCH Project and Alternatives Counselling Rooms. The post holder will work with the lead outreach worker to deliver the Alternatives ‘gentle counselling’ model to service users who are accessing the BIRCH project.

The post holder will work as part of a small supportive team, delivering 1:1 counselling to birth parents in Dundee. The post holder will be expected to assess and triage clients, carry their own case load of clients, and keep client records.

The successful candidate will be part of the Alternatives Counselling Outreach team. This is a small, non-hierarchical and passionate team, who aim to create a working environment where team members are supported both in their clinical work and their wellbeing. Regular training, peer mentoring and group supervision are in place to create a supportive working environment.
