John Barnett
Is an experienced volunteer management consultant with Cranfield Trust having been involved since 2016 when he was Scotland Manager for Charity Bank, the ethical lender to charities and social enterprises. In that role he undertook due diligence of diverse charitable organisations by evaluating the governance, management, structures, business plans, accounts and future forecasts to ensure the ability to service long term loans mainly for capital projects. Application assessments undertaken by public, private and charitable foundations represent a less rigorous but demanding process. John has served as a charity CEO and as chair, treasurer, secretary and member of the boards of a number of charitable and social organisations, including universities, furniture recycling projects, and a law centre. With degrees in Law and Economics, he spent 20 years in international corporate banking in the City of London before returning to Scotland to pursue other interests.
