Shelter Scotland are delivering upcoming online Lunch & Learn series on Dampness & Disrepair Housing Rights. This training is delivered across two sessions and is suitable for anyone affected by, or supporting someone experiencing, dampness and disrepair in their home.
Session 1: Introduction to Dampness & Disrepair
This introductory session provides a clear overview of key issues and rights related to dampness and disrepair.
Session 1 will cover:
- An introduction to Shelter Scotland
- Systemic racism and the housing emergency
- What is damp and disrepair
- Types of mould and solutions for fixing them
- Condensation
- Awaab’s Law
Dates: 15th, 16th and 21st of April
Session 2: Rights, Responsibilities & Practical Responses
This session will build on the first session with a deeper look at legal standards, landlord duties, and real‑life examples.
Session 2 will cover:
- Session 1 recap
- The Tolerable Standard and Repairing Standard
- Pests, vermin, and infestations
- Landlord responsibilities and the complaints process
- Leaks and flooding
- Safety in your home
- Practical case studies
Dates: 22nd, 29th of April and 12th May
