Love Loss and Living training

Please see the Love Loss and Living Flyer with more information about the launch of forthcoming Love, Loss and Living training in Aberdeen, Dundee (dates listed below) and Edinburgh. The training is focused on coping with the ‘bereavement’ of not seeing your child after divorce or separation and  how to manage the emotions of being separated from your child.

The four session course over six weeks is aimed at supporting parents who are not seeing their children for one reason or other, often following divorce or separation, to help them address their feelings of grief and bereavement. The insight that led to the development of the course became apparent through the monthly support group meetings run by Shared Parenting Scotland in cities across Scotland.

Sometimes the pain and distress of the ‘non-resident’ parent is palpable among parents who may be 24/7 mothers or fathers until the relationship breakdown but then find themselves cut adrift.

The course is split into three sections:

  • Love – exploring the love you have for your child, the neuroscience of love, and the ‘loving-kindness’ meditation.
  • Loss – exploring loss, the impact of your emotions, others’ emotions, the culture of loss and psychological models of loss.
  • Living – exploring healthy strategies, the power of self-care, and setting goals for the next 12 months to help you think positively.

The training is completely free of charge.

Any parent who might benefit from taking par in the course should e mail dm@sharedparenting.scot. The course website is at www.lovelossandliving.uk
