Around two million children across the UK are missing out on the financial support they are entitled to because the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) can be complex and difficult to navigate both for families and for the professionals supporting them.
Drawing on over two years of frontline delivery through the Transforming Child Maintenance partnership, this session will share practical learning about what works, where families face barriers and how specialist support can improve outcomes for children.
You’ll hear from:
- Kerry Jones (Fife Gingerbread) – who has led direct child maintenance support and practitioner training in Fife
- Charlotte Liddell – a member of the Single Parent Expert Group, bringing lived experience of navigating the CMS
The session will cover:
- Common challenges families face
- The value of face-to-face support

- A preview of a new online toolkit for parents and advisers
- How to support the campaign to reform the child maintenance system
