Sport & Leisure Academy is an 8 week training course giving participants an introduction to the sport and leisure industry. Delivered in partnership with Dundee & Angus College and Active Dundee, this unique offer is sure to get you moving and thinking about the huge range of opportunities in this industry.
What to expect:
- An entry-level training course for people interested in the sport and leisure industry (sports coach, gym instructor, lifeguards, leisure attendants, etc.)
- Classroom work delivered at D&A College, Gardyne Campus
- Employability training and support delivered by Discover Work teams
- 24 hours work experience with Active Dundee teams
- Modules and accredited training including; sports coaching, gym instructor, emergency first aid, safeguarding
- Advice on how to work self-employed or start your own business
- Free sports kit
- Help to apply for jobs with Active Dundee (or anything else you like) on completion of the course
- Support to apply for further education courses
- 1 to 1 support to help you get ready for starting work and for up to a year into your employment

- Information Day: 11am, Wednesday 22nd April 2026 at Lecture Theatre 1, D&A College, Gardyne Road, DD5 1NY
- Full course dates: Monday 4th May to Friday 26th June 2026
Requirements:
- Live in Dundee or close by
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be unemployed or underemployed (not enough hours, low pay, etc.)
- Be able to commit to all days of the course
- Be interested in working or studying in the sport & leisure industry
