Brief Description of Duties:    Safe Zone is a TCA project which delivers services from a project vehicle situated directly within communities. There are two elements to the overall brand, Safe Zone Street Outreach and Safe Zone Nighttime.

Safe Zone Street Outreach delivers a crisis intervention service to those who are most vulnerable to suffering from issues such as poor mental health, substance use and homelessness. Staff and volunteers currently deliver the service on Friday and Saturday evenings in the Stobswell and Lochee areas of Dundee between 6-8.30pm.

Safe Zone Nighttime is a welfare service which operates on an ad hoc basis primarily to support events or occasions such as Fresher’s Week. Staff and volunteers work alongside partners to support those who are vulnerable due to intoxication, substance use and poor mental health as well as providing a safe space which is accessible to all.

The Safe Zone Coordinator is responsible for the operational delivery of Safe Zone services, ensuring that the vehicles are roadworthy for use and that the shifts are adequately staffed. The coordinator is responsible for recruitment and management of staff/volunteers and is responsible for their ongoing support and development. The coordinator works closely with partner agencies, both individually and at the steering group level, to develop new initiatives and agree solutions for issues which may arise.

It is desirable that the coordinator undergoes relevant training to enable them to drive the main Safe Zone Vehicle and support staff and volunteers to undergo this training dependent on the needs of the project.
