Violence Against Women Overview Training – April-July
We have new dates for the 2-day in person Violence Against Women Overview Training. As we are seeing increasing polarisation of this topic in the media and its infiltration into society, we are also recognising the damaging direct and indirect impacts on men and women in different ways amongst service users, colleagues and those in our personal networks. Whilst it’s a topic that affects everyone, the training is on violence against women. We would like to invite everyone to join our training to discuss the different forms of violence against women and how everyone can play a role in reducing it. The booking form is below if you would like to sign up https://forms.office.com/e/CWQD3DG1VW.
The sessions will cover:
- understanding gender inequality,
- different forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) including street harassment, sexual violence, human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, domestic abuse and harmful practices,
- local and national support organisations for VAWG,
- increasing confidence and basic skills for dealing with disclosure,
- understanding the barriers women face to accessing services,
- provide information on some tools and approaches which can be used to support women impacted by violence against women and girls, and
- understanding of good practice principles when dealing with perpetrators.
Safe & Together in Dundee: Briefing – June
Safe & Together is the Scottish Government recommended approach to working with families where domestic abuse is part of their story. On a more local level, Dundee City Council has also committed to promote the principles of the model in an attempt to curb the rising incidents of domestic abuse seen across both the city and nationally. These online briefing sessions will be set up to run throughout the year to raise awareness and provide an overview of the model and its key principles.
