Peer Support

Peer support is essentially when individuals use their own lived experience to support others who have been through or are going through something similar. It's worth highlighting that there are lots of great peer support opportunities already existing throughout Dundee. On the Mental Health and Substance Use team our role is to help build capacity by creating opportunities for existing groups to develop and grow. In the long term our goal is to encourage more local organisations to recognise the value of peer support and ultimately employ their own peer workers.

How we can support you

The Dundee Peer Support Network brings together peer supporters from across the city to build connections and share best practice. We encourage anyone who is in anyway involved with peer support, either formally or informally, professionally or in their community, to come along to our regular meetings.

If you’re involved in peer support or looking to develop your skills, we can offer signposting to services which may have training, volunteering or employment opportunities. We have strong links with many organisations, such as the Scottish Recovery Network, and can provide opportunities to connect at both a local and national level.

As well as facilitating networking opportunities, we can also provide support with informal discussions and another set of eyes to look over your peer support projects.
