Welcome!

I am pleased that you have chosen to become a volunteer at Dundee Volunteer and Voluntary Action (DVVA).  We will do all we can to ensure that you settle quickly into your role and enjoy your volunteering experience.

In partnership with Dundee Social Enterprise Network, we are part of the Dundee Third Sector Interface. Together we are dedicated to developing and supporting the voluntary sector, developing volunteering and social enterprise in Dundee and being a strategic partner in community planning.

Our purpose is simple – to promote community welfare through voluntary action.

Whichever DVVA project or area of work you volunteer with, your contribution, your commitment, energy and enthusiasm as an individual and as a member of the team is vital to the success of DVVA. Your input as a volunteer will ensure that we continue to thrive as an organisation, serving the needs of our beneficiaries and our communities.

We have put together this handbook for your information. Its purpose is to provide answers to any questions you may have about practical issues related to volunteering with us. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with this document and refer to it during the course of your time with DVVA. If you have any queries regarding a particular section or your volunteering in general, please talk with your named person.

We aim to provide volunteering opportunities that are enjoyable, fulfilling and worthwhile and help you to fulfil your reasons to volunteer, be it building on and gaining new skills, offering your existing experience to the benefit of others, improving your employability prospects or expanding your horizons.

As part of our team, you are our most important and greatest asset. We would not accomplish what we do without volunteers like yourself.

I do hope you find all of these things throughout a long, happy and rewarding time with DVVA.

I wish you well and very much look forward to working with you.

Christina Cooper, DVVA Chief Executive Officer
