Working Health Services – free self-referral service delivered from the NHS

Working Health Services (WHS) has been running for 19 years and provides a Tayside-wide service on a self-referral basis to support clients to return to work who are on a sickness absence or remain in work when struggling with a health condition. If you are self-employed, or an employee of a small business (less than 250 employees), and are suffering from a health condition, WHS offer support and early interventions. The free service delivered from the NHS.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Employed in a small to medium size enterprise (up to 250 employees nationally).
  • Self-employed.
  • Absent from work due to ill health.
  • Suffering from a health problem that affects the ability to carry out duties in the workplace.

Services Offered:

  • Depending on the needs of the client they can be referred for physiotherapy/counselling.
  • Case management support is given to clients throughout their time with the service and they may be sign posted or referred to other services identified by their case manager to provide additional support.
  • WHS counsellors offer face-to-face meetings, telephone and Near Me appointments.
  • Physiotherapy offers telephone appointments and face-to-face as required.
  • Case management is available face-to-face or by telephone.
  • Employers can refer (with the consent of the employee/client).
