Scottish Prison Service invites third sector organisations in Dundee to find out more about the Bella Centre
As you will be aware, the SPS in consultation with key Stakeholders and Partners has redesigned custodial arrangements for women to ensure both the physical environment and available services are gender specific and trauma informed, meeting the needs of the women in our care. These plans include delivery of a new Women’s National Facility (WNF) HMP&YOI Stirling, which will replace Cornton Vale, and initially two Community Custody Units (CCUs), one in Glasgow and one in Dundee, with the first CCU, ‘The Bella Centre’ due to open in Dundee during the summer of 2022.
CCUs are a new concept in Scotland, their purpose is to provide safe accommodation and to support the needs of women who will benefit from closer community contact and access to local services, to create and sustain independence in preparation for successful reintegration into the community. A collaborative approach to service delivery between SPS, Statutory and Voluntary Third Sector partners is critical to the success of the new approach, and to that end we would like to take an opportunity to provide an overview of the Bella Centre and to answer any questions you may have with a view to identifying opportunities to work together.
A virtual meeting/presentation has been scheduled for Thursday 17 March @ 2pm, in order to provide this overview. Click here to join the meeting
Here are a number of documents which will give you some context and background in advance of the meeting. I look forward to seeing you all there, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions in the meantime.
